LICENSED BARBER/STYLIST PROGRAM
1800 CLOCK HOURS OF INSTRUCTION
PROGRAM OUTLINE CURRICULUM
This program is designed for the individual who has no background or experience (formal or otherwise) in this field but who desires to work with the public as a
Licensed Barber/Stylist, and/or a Barber Shop Owner, Operator or
Manager, in the State of Ohio.
Theoretical Study (Classroom Training)
100 Clock Hours Minimum
Barber implements; hygiene, sanitation and sterilization; rules and regulations, barbering history; ethics and shop management; honing, stropping, and shaving; men's hair and nails; chemistry; permanent waving; disease of the skin and scalp; barbering laws; salesmanship; hair coloring, hair relaxing.
Scientific Barbering Practice (Classroom Training)
200 Clock Hours Minimum
Hot oil shampoo; shampoo and tonic; hair coloring; hair relaxing; permanent waving; scientific rest facial; clay pack facial; rolling cream facial; shaving.
General Barber Practice (Clinic/Shop Training,)
1200 Clock Hours Minimum
Regular men's haircutting; razor cutting; styling; coloring; hair relaxing; permanent waving; long hair cutting; hot oil shampoo; shampoo tonic; scientific rest facial; clay pack facial; rolling cream facial; men's hairpieces; facial shaving.
The remaining 300 hours are to be allocated by the DBC to whatever training listed above that the
College
deems necessary.

FOR LICENSED COSMETOLOGISTS
1000 CLOCK HOURS OF INSTRUCTION
PROGRAM OUTLINE - CURRICULUM
This program is designed for the individual who is presently a
Licensed Cosmetologist. The curriculum is the same as the 1800 hour program except that fewer hours are spent in the theoretical areas and in the clinic/shop practice. Graduates will be qualified to work as a
Licensed Barber/Stylist, and/or a Barber
Shop Owner, Operator or Manager, in the State of Ohio.
Theoretical Study (Classroom Training)
35 Clock Hours Minimum

training listed above that the College deems necessary.
NOTE: In order to advance to the clinic floor a 80 hour practical test must be passed. All new students with no previous experience will spend their first
80 clock hours in Theoretical Study class. During this time they will be introduced to Ohio State Barber Board procedures for taper haircuts, a shave, and a rolling cream facial.
